The CONVERGENCE MAPS series is a visual exploration born from a deep-seated unease at the erosion of mutual understanding in a world increasingly fractured by populism and sectarianism. In an age where information flows more freely than ever before, the series questions why humanity remains more stubbornly siloed than ever. Why do we so cling to the comfort of tribalism, seek validation from partisan voices, and succumb to the seductive pull of confirmation bias? Social media algorithms, ever more targeted and precise, prey on these vulnerabilities, reinforcing divides and deepening isolation within the corners of an increasingly fragmented society. It is time to let go of their siren call.
Each canvas captures the essence of this dissonant world, portraying it through what may appear as light beams emanating from opposite sides of the canvas in a state of unresolved tension. An array of such beams, from vivid to barely perceptible ones, from aggressively sharp looking to more faint ones, project out at various distances, a poignant metaphor for our polarized times. The paintings appear as pictorial maps of schisms, bursts of irreconcilable, diverging voices rendered in chaotic energy. Yet a closer examination reveals intricate layers of subtle interplay, interaction and convergence. These overlapping elements symbolize latent possibilities: spaces where understanding, dialogue, and unity might emerge if only we dared to look beyond and tap into our empathy for the other.
Ultimately, the CONVERGENCE MAPS series invites viewers to reflect on the duality of division and connection. It challenges us to recognize the opportunities hidden within the interplay of difference and asks whether we can transcend the allure of separation, converge towards those unlike us, to forge a more inclusive, empathetic and understanding world.

The Convergence Maps series was born from a long period of pent-up disquiet seeing how equity and freedoms are progressively eroding around the world while populism and sectarianism are on the rise.
In an age of unparalleled access to information why do we stay so stubbornly siloed, bound by innate tribalism, lured by partisan voices and drawn to the siren call of confirmation bias? Why do we find such comfort and strength within our corner of an increasingly polarised society? Why do we remain such easy targets to social media algorithms?
At first look, each painting appears like a pictorial map of a set of irreconcilable diverging voices and schisms. A closer read invites us to notice innumerable overlapping layers of confluence and connection wherein lies opportunity.
